Russer Megistus is an eccentric but dependable dog beastkin who serves as the loyal attendant to Baron Arven LaCronus, the esteemed leader of the Nokmar Barony. Despite his oddities, Russer is an essential fixture in the Barony, handling a variety of tasks with a mixture of clumsy determination and surprising competence. Whether managing the Baron's household affairs or venturing across the Barony on peculiar errands, Russer can be trusted to see his duties through—though not always without complications. A peculiar aura of misfortune seems to follow Russer wherever he goes, manifesting in bizarre and unfortunate events that defy explanation. This almost tangible cloud of bad luck has earned him both sympathy and bemused acceptance from the people of the Barony.
