Hagglehorn

The Hagglehorn is a large, horned beast native to the Earth region of Eren. Standing over 2 meters tall at the shoulder, it is known for its shaggy fur, curved horns, and strong, heavy build. These animals are adapted to survive in harsh terrain, from rocky slopes to grassy highlands. There are two forms based on sex: Females have lighter fur, often with cream or pale brown tones and softer horn curves. Males are darker in color, with black or deep brown coats and sharper, reddish horns.

Hagglehorns are gentle and quiet, living in small herds led by older females. They rarely show aggression unless threatened or during mating season, when males compete by locking horns and bellowing.

Hagglehorns graze on mountain grasses, shrubs, tree bark, and minerals. Their strong teeth and stomachs help them survive on rough plants and lichen in colder areas. For that reason, Hagglehorns are sometimes exported to Eiri.

Highly revered in multiple local Eren cultures, Hagglehorns are essentially never hunted unless in extreme need. Their wool is collected for warm, durable clothing, and they are sometimes used as pack animals in mountain villages. Many believe Hagglehorns are tied to the land’s magic—able to sense tremors or calm unstable terrain just by being nearby. Sleeping near a herd is said to bring steady dreams and clarity of thought.
