Verlore

Verlore was a female Dathomirian Zabrak who's family survived the fall of the Nightsisters in 1 BGE. Verlore returned to Dathomir in 19 AGE in an attempt to reunite with other sisters but none appeared.  

History

 

The fall of The Nightsisters

  In 1 BGE, The Nightsisters were attacked by an army of battle droids and General Grievous who was under Count Dooku's orders to exterminate them. The separatist force was mostly successful and a majority of the clan were killed, only a handful of individuals survived the attack. Among these survivors were an elder named Idla and her pregnant daughter Vera. The two fled to a distant planet where Vera gave birth to a baby girl. Unfortunately Vera died in childbirth but she had instructed Idla to name the child Verlore and teach her the ways of the nightsisters.   In the heat of the battle, Idla and a handful of other nightsisters performed an ancient ritual to beseech ancient spirits and see the future. In their hour of need, they asked for a way for the sisterhood to survive. They received a prophecy which read:  

Our fate is sealed, those who survive to be scattered like sand,
but once the storm subsides, those lost grains will rejoin the dunes,
on the eve of Korotas' third rotation, return to the sacred land and unite.

 

Homeworld Bound

  There were two decades between the destruction of the nightsisters ancestral home and the third full rotation of Dathomir's moon Korotas. Idla died in that time and Verlore set out to return to Dathomir alone. Verlore became close to missing the deadline when she was detained on Corellia. She had been caught by a store owner from whom she had tried to steal an essential part for her ship after it had broken down. She was rescued by K1-R1 (Kiri), M-1A (Mia), Skarl and Tony, the companions of The Crimson Storm. The companions helped Verlore escape The Empire on her way off-planet and subsequently accompanied her to Dathomir. Upon reaching Dathomir, Verlore found it empty. No other nightsisters had appeared and the prophecy had apparently not been fulfilled. Anguished, Verlore attempted the same ritual her grandmother had years previous, beseeching the ancient spirits to find her sisters. Verlore saw visions of her lost sisters but nightsister spirits appeared and attempted to inhabit their bodies as a price that was to be paid for the powerful magic used. Tony was inhabited briefly but he was forced out when Verlore summoned a rancor spirit to fend off the zabrak spirits.
