Xol'Hanath: The City of Shattered Eternity
The last remaining bastion of "life" related to Nemoris, Xol'Hanath was established by powerful necromancers seeking to create a sanctuary where they could practice their craft without interference. Over centuries, Xol’Hanath grew into a sprawling metropolis, a beacon of necromantic power. Its inhabitants, the Xol'har, mastered the arts of life and death, achieving forms of undeath that granted them near-immortality.
During its golden age, Xol’Hanath was a center of learning and magical innovation. The city's universities and libraries housed countless tomes on necromancy, alchemy, and occultism. Scholars from across Nemoris would travel to Xol'Hanath to study under the guidance of its undead masters. The city was also known for its grand festivals celebrating the cycles of life and death, where necromantic rites were performed publicly to demonstrate the power and beauty of their dark arts.
During the cataclysmic event that merged the worlds, Xol'Hanath was not only transported but also transformed. The merging forces twisted the city’s structures and its people. Buildings became entwined with the natural elements of the new world, leading to the bizarre and contradictory architecture seen today.
The Xol'har, now twisted in both body and mind, became horrific remnants of their former selves. Some fused with one another or with the environment, enduring endless torment due to their undying nature. Their sanity shattered, and they now wander the ruins in perpetual agony.
