Planetouched

Planetouched was a general term used to described mortal creatures whose souls were considered "perfect vessels" upon birth, which led to them catching the eyes of otherworldly beings of all kinds. The kind of planetouched such a vessel became depended entirely upon the first otherworldly being whose energies interacted with them. From direct intentionnal contact, to accidental exposure, any interaction would cause them some unusual characteristics that persisted in the bloodline for several generations. Planetouched were not as dramatically different as a true hybrid (i.e. a half-celestial or half-fiend) would be. The most common types of planetouched were tieflings, aasimar and genasi. However, there were no "typical" planetouched, as the different types generally lacked cultures of their own and instead adopted the culture they were born into.   These individuals are born with souls so attuned to planar energies that they resonate like an open door to otherworldly forces. This makes them prime targets for celestial, fiendish, elemental, and other planar entities.

Triggers for birth:

Intentional Contact: A god, fiend, or elemental actively chooses to imbue the soul with their essence. This could be through blessings, bargains, or simple curiosity.   Accidental Exposure: Prolonged presence in a place charged with divine, infernal, or elemental energy can unintentionally mark a child. For instance, a child born near a celestial leyline might become an aasimar, while one born near a volcanic elemental rift might become a fire genasi.   Heredity: These traits remain for several generations, even if the original Planetouched parent isn't involved in future bloodlines. This means entire families might be marked by subtle or obvious characteristics, which could lead to legends, stigmas, or unique societal roles.
