The Almionsi

The Almionsi people come in a variety of skin colors and appearances, due to their having taken over many other peoples and cultures and assimilated them into their own. The original Almionsi, from the kingdom before their “empire-building phase”, were typically lighter-skinned, and both men and women were required to have short hair. Long, uncut hair was considered the sign of a criminal or someone who has served jail time. Some were allowed to cut their hair again after, but those convicted of major crimes had to keep their hair longer than a certain length. They have very rigid policies, and generally scorn those who do not fit within typical gender roles. Though they do often accept most sexualities, not simply straight, this only applies to men. Women in Almionsi society are not allowed to choose their own partners, but men can choose other men, as long as their marriage is approved by their respective families. The Almionsi are an exceptionally tall species, with the shortest recorded individual in their collective history being about 183 centimeters tall.   When the Almionsi conquered their first territory, they weren’t the Almionsi yet. Today’s galactic empire had humble beginnings, starting out as a small nation on a planet known as Ocean Solaris. They called themselves Reme, after their founder, Remus, who’d ousted his brother Romulus for control. Eventually, they spanned the globe, becoming known as the Reman Imperium and the ruling power of their young planet. By 2084 RE (Reman Era) Cesarin (Cesar: a famous Reman astronomer known for inventing their calendar) Time, they had discovered space travel. A first encounter with another species soon grew heated, and ended in a battle between the Reman settlers and the aliens whose planet they coveted. Elders passed these stories down to their children and to their grandchildren, and so these tales spread through the generations. In 2143 RE, they returned, much more powerful than before, to take control of that one stubborn planet, beginning their long journey to universal supremacy.
