The Academy for Young Nobles {AYN}

A prestigious Almionsi institute aimed towards science-minded older noble children. They are quite strict towards students, keeping them in line with a swift whack with a cane. The Academy teaches their pupils that other species are inferior and are very unaccepting to those who they consider to not be “pure-blooded” Almionsi. They keep live magical test subjects. They are also very male-oriented, and have only one female professor. Only one fifth of the entire student body is female. Enrollment begins at age 14, and the average student graduates at age 22, at the end of Year 8.   Teachers and Staff:   Sir Alan DeVoyar- a mean combat professor with a frail appearance; former knight of the Emperor’s Guard.   Professor Hartson- the etiquette professor. Goes out of his way to ignore female students and has a decade-long rivalry with Sir Alan because of said professor’s brute force method of teaching.   Professor Calamansi- a mild-mannered music teacher. Scorned by her peers for being the lone female professor and for teaching their pure-blooded noble students music from other places in the vast Empire.   Professor Jackson- a terrifying science teacher feared by most students and test subjects.   Mr. Agri- the assistant to Prof. Jackson and the one who carries out most of the experiments.   Professor Danteli- the language arts professor. Grammar expert. Loves to write long-winded boring speeches with lots of fancy-sounding adjectives. Not exactly a favorite amongst students.   Professor Baruk- the history teacher. Worships the saying ‘History is written by the victors.’   Professor Olifian- the math teacher. Strict and keen-eyed, but adored by many students for his supportive nature in teaching. Is often gifted muffins and other sweet treats by his pupils.   Mr. Naol- the janitor, a “half-blooded” Almionsi with a foreign assimilated mother.     Notable Students (a professor’s observations):   Valerie Arkos- Age 18, Year 4 student. Showed exemplary progress in the sciences and in combat. Top of the women’s Year 4 leaderboard.   Kane Malorry- Age 19, Year 5 student. Knight-in-training. Son of the king’s right hand, Sir Arvin Malorry. He is especially proficient in combat but doesn’t show a satisfactory understanding of language arts. No. 15 on the men’s Year 5 leaderboard.   Archine (ar-kine) Savvas- Age 21, repeating Year 6 due to insufficient understanding of the sciences. He is the son of Marcus Savvas, a well-known Almionsi scientist, and is expected to follow in his father’s footsteps. No. 4 on the men’s Year 6 leaderboard.   Litz Montgomery- Age 22, Year 8 student. Quite close to graduating, but is being held back by a misguided sympathy for inferior species. No. 3 on the men’s Year 8 leaderboard.   Edward del Sol- Age 20, Year 6 student. Son of Emperor Louis del Sol. Golden-haired and blue eyed, the signs of a descendant of the Sun, the Almighty One, himself. A genius in etymology, Edward excels in language arts. No. 3 on the men’s Year 6 leaderboard.   Maria del Sol- Age 20, Year 6 student. One of the emperor’s numerous daughters, but one of the only two to be accepted. Because of the Academy’s strict policies concerning female students, she was admitted only due to outperforming her brother in almost all areas of the entrance exam, except for language arts, her brother’s specialty. Maria has blue eyes and golden-brown hair. No. 2 on the women’s Year 6 leaderboard.   Lavender del Sol- Age 15, Year 2 music specialist. One of the youngest of the emperor’s daughters and the second to be admitted to the Academy. Lavender accomplished this by sneaking into the music auditions and winning the top spot before revealing that she was female, though the only reason she was accepted was because of Professor Calamansi. Lavender has golden hair and golden eyes, but due to being a girl, she isn’t considered a true sunchild. A talented cellist. Top of the Year 2 music leaderboard.     Living Test Subjects (Professor Jackson’s Files; do not touch, you meddling students!):   Subject #802 -Water elemental from Sivmarian -Given wings during first test. -Most tests for this subject involve camouflage and disguise. Our soldiers will benefit greatly from this research. -Has attempted to escape twice. We must keep a closer eye on it. -This one is PrObLeMaTic {here the writing becomes squiggly and jagged, as if the writer is frustrated}   Subject #347 -kapatzi from Zanzare-Moskweet -given accelerated healing capabilities and sharper claws     Subject #6 -lunai -It has been here from the beginning. -First test was long life, and it seems to have worked, but it could have simply been the subject’s own.     Disciplines Offered: The Academy offers many different classes. The core set consists of language arts, science, combat, math, history, and etiquette. Music is only available through an audition. For graduation, one must have completed all required courses in every skill taken, not including extra-credit projects. If one is at the bottom of the leaderboard at the end of the year, they may have to repeat it. After graduating from such an illustrious institute, many job opportunities are opened for former students. Most jobs that deal with the sciences require a degree from this very school to be considered for a spot.
