In the not so far future, battle for control over the galaxy rages.
Massive, star spanning Empires battle it out to carve their mark on this ever shrinking galaxy where anything from sprawling, planet covering mega cities to extradimensional voids where the laws of nature itself are pushed to the wayside are more than just a possibility.
As the war spreads to every corner of the galaxy, leaving nowhere untouched by its destructive hand, more and more worlds, factions and individuals are having to come to terms with the ever present choice.
All must choose a side.

Without technology, ones destiny would be confined to a stagnant existence on ones homeworld. The galaxy is as diverse as it is vast, with countless alien civilizations mixing and interacting with each other, each one unique in its appearance and culture. Billions of different religions coexist together and simultaneously jostle for supremacy. Starships of all shapes, sizes and purpose all traverse the cosmos in a bustling network of star fuel and steel, projecting their makers will through their unique appearances and technology.
Even in the realm of the familier, human civilizations are also spread far and wide across the stars, with some carrying familier creeds, while others are so far removed in their technological prowess and state of mind they can hardly be recognized as humans at all.
The Milkyway galaxy is a melting pot of interstellar civilizations, all trying to make their mark through unique ideas and groundbreaking technology.

We are advocates of using creative tools to design our own assets where possible in order to create a truly unique, collaborative sci-fi setting where everyone involved contributes to the overarching story, design and feel of the world.

The setting of The Universe: Galactic Empires is primarily a sandbox that surrounds a massive scale galactic conflict. While there is a clear power balance between major and minor factions, anyone has the potential to become a major player in the setting, be it through careful diplomacy, trade or feats of martial strength.
The setting zooms out to an empire wide level, where characters are seen as parts of the complex machine that is a galactic empire, each of them having their role to play in the function of such an empire.

Even in an age where one can travel light years in the blink of an eye, where some of the greatest questions of life have been answered, the unknown, and all the unseen threats that lurk within it, are still ever persistent.
Despite the technology the many advanced civilizations of the galaxy have at their disposal, the space between worlds is a mystery in itself, within which some of the most fascinating yet also terrifying anomalies come to exist. The scale and scope of such are as broad as unknown space itself.
Anything could be out there.
