Sluggs
Small slimy creatures who live near the center of the planet. They've been there for centuries defending themselves from Dwarves and Dragons. Since there are not a lot of smaller animals down there, they feed off of the draconic energy of the crystals shed from Gem Dragons. They worship a sea god. They've adapted to their unique placement, though there are some who have adapted to the sea.

Anatomy
They have a strong protective shell, 8 limbs, some teeth (they are very weak).
Genetics and Reproduction
2 slugs of a different sex put their sludge on a crystal and leave, 5 weeks later a slug will emerge and will have to find the colony.
Growth Rate & Stages
Baby, and then after 3 weeks they've reached sexual and emotional maturity.
