Kenku

Feathered folk who resemble ravens, kenku are blessed with keen observation and supernaturally accurate memories. None of them can remember the origin of the first kenku, however, and they often joke that there are as many kenku origin stories as there are kenku. Some of them paint their genesis as a curse, being a flightless bird people doomed to mimic other people’s creations. Other kenku recite cryptic but beautiful poems about their advent being a blessed event in which they were sent into the universe to observe and catalog its many wonders.
Most Kenkus have gone extinct except for those in the City of Nonacs, but there ares still some dotted around the globe.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Kenku look like short, humanoid crows, with black beady eyes and long, dark hued beaks. Their heads, torso's and upper arms are covered in feathers, usually black, while their scrawny lower arms and legs are bare and scaly like a bird's. Their anatomy functions much like the crows they resemble.

Genetics and Reproduction

Through a process called the "cloacal kiss," where the male and female birds align their cloacas, the single opening for excretion and reproduction, and briefly touch. The male then transfers sperm into the female's cloaca, where it can fertilize the eggs.
