Moss birds eat the predators of sentient moss they live either next to or atop sentient moss the moss doesn't get eaten and the birds get to eat

as weather gets colder moss birds feather turn browner and some even turn pure white to blend in better their feathers get thicker and at the coldest points of the year moss birds can't fly at all

Moss birds are social creatures and work together 9 out of 10 times if it encounters a threat the first thing most will do is protect the eggs the rest will evaluate the threat if it isn't much of one the birds will gather to try to take it down
