Staples of the South
Introduction
Over the last seven years I have travelled Outland from the jungles of Kerijaan to the burrows of Tunnel Town, and in that time I have come to sample and document the various staples of Outland cuisine for the benefit of all.
Common Meals
Corn Cakes - Thick, condensed loaves of bread baked from the red corn that grows in the far south of Outland.
Saurian Stew - Saurian meat can be prepared in a variety of ways, the most common of which is in a heavy stew filled with greens and bird eggs.
Uhr's Milk - This thick, creamy beverage pulled from the udders of the fur covered uhrs is slow to expire and is a favorite of travellers braving the black desert, where water is scarcer than gold.
Roasted Warthog - The tough meat of the Kerijaani boar is best cooked slowly, smoked over a fire for at least half a day.
Tetra Juice - Squeezed from the green tetra fruit, this sweet nectar is served in place of water in many of the tropical regions of Outland.
Rice Bricks - Heavy blocks of condensed rice grown in patties across Outland are a staple of diets from Kerijaan to Jagatai.
Human Flesh - In the far easatern isles of Outland, the cannibal tribes flay captives living and roast them as they are still alive.
Exquisite Dining
Eldaren Sugar Cakes - Thick, heavy slices of fluffy silver cake are served as a delicacy among the wealthy of Eldare, baked with uhr's milk and saurian eggs.
Kerijaani Snail Stalks - The long eyestalks of the Kerijaani snail are severed and fried to perfection, their savory eyeballs stuffed with cheeses and diced meats.
