Gothheim
A dark and shadowy landscape, Gothheim is a land of long mountains and deep forests. The boreal valleys and moorlands are filled with small villages and farmlands, with the tall towers of old castles dotting the snowcapped mountainsides. The largest of these castles is Darkemoor, built on a hill overlooking the Blackwood forest.
Localized Phenomena
A shadow hangs over the entire region, with murky days and strange nights, where the dark sky and grim countryside are set aglow by lights the sky, dancing and swirling patterns of vibrant color. This beautiful phenonemon can be seen for leagues during affected nights across Gothheim and the Frostlands.
Climate
The weather of Gothheim is incredibly predictable, prone to heavy clouds and dense fog. The days are short and dark, the nights cold and long.
History
Considered to be the most ancient of lands in the kingdom, the Altheans of Gothheim have resided there, in their old woods and mountain fortresses, since before the Starfall. They see themselves as the true Altheans, citing their ancestral legacies and castles. They view all other Altheans as newcomers to the land, with many even referring to them as the "old Altheans."
The old Altheans are widely believed to have practiced some form of magic, led by mysterious covens of black witches. Though witchcraft is condemned by the Estari, many in Gothheim still cling to the old ways, wandering the dark woods enacting sacrifices and blood rituals in attempts to revive some lost magic.
