Realizing that Scaelor needed a strong central ruler, the Electorate established the Wyrmthrone, anointing the first Sovereign, a former legate-general who had commanded Scaelor’s armies during the empire’s fall. However, instead of absolute rule, the Crimson Claw Rite was created as a safeguard: the monarch could be challenged in martial combat if the Electorate deemed them unfit to rule.

Over the next centuries, Scaelor evolved into a structured monarchic state, balancing power between the Sovereign, the Electorate, and the Legions. While some rulers reigned uncontested, others faced duels for the throne, leading to cycles of stability and turmoil. During this era, the Imperial Legions were reorganized into a national army, keeping the draconic military traditions alive while adapting to mortal rule. The Argent Guard was formed as the elite protectors of the throne, while the Crimson Order became an internal force, ensuring that power struggles remained within the law.
