Session 7: The Rememberer

General Summary

After lenghty deliberations regarding their next course of action, the party decided to follow up on the contract from the Dhil Ahldurian delegation. Therefore they headed made proper preperations before heading north into the Ahldian Woods. The forest had once been connected to the Feyfire Forest and was thus also connected to the feywild. With the disturbances caused by the lab of Galvatorix awakening, the forest had grown weary. During their trek through the woods, the party was jumped by a displacer beast. A pantherlike monster that phases through reality. The party managed to swiflty deal with this beast and then moved on. But not before they gutted and dismembered the beast, inside of which they found a magical stone. Jane identified this to be a Stone of Encouragement. A magical artifact that whispered encouragements to its holder.

When they finally made it out of the forest, they were met by a strange figure. A man accompanied by an undead wolf. He introduced himself as Ezzan the Rememberer, a servant of Moorbrand. He calmly greeted them all before turning to deliver a messega from his master directly to Jane. It said:
"My master does not wish your death, not yet. He wishes your ... return. You have something ancient. Let us help you find the rest."
He then offered to provide a scroll to awaken the planestones, in return for them bringing the next stone they find to the ruins of Umbreth. Jane felt a strange feeling. Like she knew this figure. A servant in a past life. A trusted, fanatical servant. Jane and the party at large instantly rejected.

Not willing to take no for an answer, Ezzan regretfully attempted to give Jane further insentive to cooperate by removing her companions. Ki'tor reacted swiflty and attacked. Ezzan retaliated by sending the wolf at him, before casting spells at the party. As Jane, Geneviève and Zalia tried to deal with Ezzan, they found that he had plenty of tricks up his sleeves, as he enfeebled, impaled, and knocked them over. But they had tricks of their own, as Zalia blew her book up, wounding the evil mage. In the meantime, Ki'tor fell to the endless barrage of the wolf which dealt him mortal wounds. In the end he had to awaken his own celestial power in order to heal himself and vapourize the wolf. Finding himself outmanned, Ezzan prayed to his master before falling into the shadows and vanishing from the area, leaving only a magical necklace of dagger.

The party gathered themselves and made camp, trying to heal themselves of their wounds and figure out what had just transpired.
