Orun
The Still Master
Orun is the god of discipline, self-mastery, and the cosmic pattern. A divine presence not worshipped through prayer or praise, but through resonance. Once mortal, Orun transcended the limits of body, mind, and soul, dissolving into the underlying structure of existence itself. He is the stillness within motion, the breath between thoughts, and the unseen order behind all things. To follow Orun is not to seek favor, but to align oneself with the truth that already is.
Appearance
Depictions of Orun rarely show him in material form. When represented at all, it is as a luminous silhouette sitting cross-legged in perfect stillness, a burning glyph at his core and bands of geometric light rotating around him. His face is either featureless or mirrors the viewer’s own. Not out of trickery, but because Orun reflects the self stripped of illusion. In symbolic form, he is represented by a spiral or lotus cradled within a perfect square, surrounded by concentric rings.Dogma
The Silent Master teaches that the path to truth lies in inward stillness, not outward conquest. Power is not control, but harmony. The universe is built upon invisible laws, and those who understand themselves may come to hear the pattern beneath all things. Discipline, meditation, and personal refinement are the sacred acts of his faith. There is no hierarchy in Orun’s following. No titles nor sermons in his temples. There is only the path. The self. The silence.Worship
Orun is not worshipped in the traditional sense. His followers, often monks, contemplatives, and solitary philosophers, practice attunement through ritual breathing, movement, and internal stillness. They build temples and sanctify natural spaces where the Pattern feels strong. Mountaintops, caves, echoing halls of stone, or by still lakes. They do not preach however. They teach only by presence, and by example. The only written text associated with Orun is The Unspoken Sutra, a series of aphorisms and diagrams passed from teacher to student. It contains no explanations, only problems, meditations, and riddles meant to be contemplated over years. Some say the final page is blank, and that those who understand why are ready to leave the book behind. His sacred moment is not a day, but a pause. A still breath held just before a choice is made. That is when his presence is strongest.Relations
Orun shares a quiet respect with several gods, though few truly understand him. Aurora sees his stillness as healing. Gungnir honors his self-discipline. Myrrad acknowledges him as one of the few who grasp the shape of the Pattern without being consumed. He holds no hatred for Nyxarion, but pities his entanglement in obsession. He has no rivalry with Kaelus, though their ways differ greatly. Laughter and silence are both truths in the Pattern, after all. Only Ashmedai has tried and failed to bind Orun in contract, but found nothing to hold onto. Orun is. That is enough.History
Orun’s origin is shrouded in silence, by design. It is known that he was once mortal, a seeker who renounced all names, all distractions, and all fear. He is said to have meditated for centuries in absolute stillness, during which his heartbeat slowed until it synchronized with the universe itself. When he finally exhaled, his body unraveled into golden dust. His soul did not rise, fall, or vanish. It simply resonated, and became the still note heard beneath the Weave, the Maelstrom, and the beating heart of the planes. Since that moment, Orun has never spoken. But those who find perfect focus sometimes hear him. Not in voice, but in the steady rhythm of their own breath. And they know. He is not gone. He is just already there.
