Ur-giant

Apart from their size, the ur-giants greatly resemble humans. More specifically, they resemble the humans of the northern nation of Eroch. They have hard facial features and thick red or blond hair, usually including a long, bushy beard for men.   They tend to be very powerfully built, with arms like tree trunks and powerful chests. Most of them carry massive greataxes as large as an adult human. They speak with deep gravelly voices that make them seem even more powerful, and have a habit of rolling their r's.

Unknown to most, the giants were the very first civilization in all the Twin Worlds. They lived for millennia in peace and harmony, and their civilization grew to the very heights of power. As always, such pure peace can never last.   No one among even the longest memories of all giants knew what started the war, but soon all giants were pulled into a war that tore their civilization to pieces. Brother fought brother until it seemed that all giants would die. Only small, isolated pockets survived.   These individuals could only survive in the most hostile of environments, and they stayed in their disparate homes until the nature of these places changed their very natures. One group even fled to the Feywild to live in peace, and another followed them to hunt them. The powers of the Feywild amplified their natures until they became the firbolg and the fomorians, respectively.   Through the ages, as the smaller races took over the Twin Worlds, there was one race of giants that almost none had seen. These people stayed in their secret places completely untouched by the war that tore their people apart. These are the ur-giants.   They are a secretive people, a people with almost no history. They are untouched by time in a way none others are. Their memories and stories go back before those of all others.
