Sorority of String Cutters

The women of the sorority come from all races, classes, nations, and walks of life. They have one and only one thing in common: a past encounter or relationship with Talm Six-String.   They are a very loose association, grouped together more from a common enemy than anything else. They don't have any true leaders, but since Verra and Inine String-Cutter organized the group and recruited new members, most defer to them.

The goal of the sorority is very simple: to completely and utterly destroy Talm's life. The exact endgame varies, with most members seeking his death, others are simply satisfied with the systematic ruination of everything he holds dear. That is the only thing that keeps these disparate women together.

It could be said that the group started when the mage Verra met the spy Inine. The two became quite close very quickly, due to them both giving up on men entirely after a very bad relationship. It didn't take long for them to realize that the source of their woes was the same man.   The two lovers immediately started plotting. They used Verra's magic and Inine's contacts to put together a vast network of women that the guitarist had wronged. As the two set up their plans they grew even closer, eventually, they married and took the name "String-Cutter".   At first, the less ambitious and creative members of the sorority put their own plans in motion while their de facto leaders monitored his whereabouts. Their plans, for the most part, were no more elaborate than sending assassins.   Their presence became known to him when they tried to recruit Talm's female companions, Alda MacRaine and Lilly Steelaxe under the assumption that he'd had relations with the both of them (which he hadn't).   Inine was furious that they were revealed, but Verra had obtained one of his hairs from their efforts. They used her magic to invade his dreams in an attempt to drive him mad. This failed only when he was turned into a tabaxi by the Deck of Many Things.   Shortly thereafter, the sorority obtained a vial of Nymph Tears, the most powerful love potion known to the Twin Worlds. This, was not to their benefit, however. The sorority practically imploded as many of its members descended into infighting over it. The potion was lost and most of the members scattered.   After all of their more subtle machinations failed, Verra and Inine captured Talm. They intended to kill him, but Eldain Mal'atre convinced them to move on with their lives, at last.

After Verra and Inine left the sorority, most of their power was gone but many of the more enraged members maintained their grudge. The group was only truly disbanded after Talm's heroic sacrifice in the Abyss.
