Shah Orah

Shah Orah ibn Omar al-Saief

The sound of a massive wave breaking on a ship's hull, or a mast snapping like a twig are the sounds that the self-styled "Soveriegn of the Stormy Seas" most enjoy. To a great many who found themselves in his "collection", that is the last sound they wished they would've ever heard.

Physical Description

Body Features

Inhumanly tall and well-muscled, Shah Orah cuts an imposing figure. The way he stands and moves seems to be a very deliberate attempt to make the most of that, as his presence seems to fill an entire room. His facial features would seem very handsome if not for the blatent look of disregard that always covers it.

Apparel & Accessories

Shah Orah dresses in a simple yet opulant outfit that both accentuates his physique and remains unrestrictive underwater. He wears a white vest and a short white skirt, both gently textured. The only thing he wears that seems out of place underwater is the elaborate turban that rests on his head.

Personal history

Born in the largest pearl in the multiverse into the, at best chaotic ranks of marid nobility, a young Orah al-Saief was surrounded by only luxury. He found he could have anything he wanted, but his father, Shah Omar, saw to it that he was forced to earn these things.   A rebellious young genie, he determined that if he wanted his freedom he would simply take it. He left the palace that he called home for the first time and wandered the Planes. He kept company with mortals for a time, but their impermanence frustrated him. This left him bitter, jaded, and utterly convinced that his father was correct about the inferiority of mortals. It was centuries before he found another companion.   This creature was no mortal, however. Her name was Ssaeva and she was a demon. The marilith and marid spent a great deal of time both enjoying one another's company and slaying her enemies. Eventually, all of her rivals were dead and she took her place as Demogorgon's consort. Orah was devastated by her betrayal, and ashamed that he had allowed himself to be used. He slew her on the spot and started his journey home. Ssaeva's betrayal taught him a valuable lesson: the lesson his father had tied to teach him so long ago. If he wanted anything in the vast multiverse, he would have to take it for himself.   He greeted his father, Omar by casually murdering him. Thus, he took for himself the title of "Shah" and his father's pearl palace. His ambitions ran deeper than that: he would become the padishah of all marid, but for that he needed a plan.   To that end he sank a ship called the Saltrider and granted waterbreathing ability to Mekis, a tiefling bard, Merendithus, a shadar-kai sorcerer, and Hoon, a lizardfolk ranger in an attempt to control them. These individuals joined with others to form an adventuring group known as the Cake Squad. He then attempted to use them in an attempt to kill High Priestess Tirasala and destroy the Heart of Estae, allowing him to steal the sea elven city of Mir'assen.   Hoon died during his travels, and the others escaped his influence. Thus, he was forced to employ more direct methods of coercion. His attempt failed, and the adventurers chose to confront him directly. After a climatic battle, he was slain by an extra-planar being known as Bloop.

Morality & Philosophy

Shah Orah was taught from birth that he was among the greatest of the greatest species of the genies. He has come to believe it wholeheartedly, and pontificates on that extensively.

Social

Hobbies & Pets

Shah Orah enjoyed, more than anything "collecting". The object of this collection was mortal slaves, kept prisoner by their inability to breathe water on their own. The exact number of these "pets" was known only to the megalomaniacal marid. His favorites were kept in a vault deep in his pearl palace inside glass spheres. He found it relaxing to walk in this vault casually perusing it as though it were a cellar of fine wine.
