Fizzy Elixir of Vigilance
This is a dark brown liquid hoarded by the Mulfaers and stored in cylindrical containers. It is extremely difficult to obtain as it is only found in the Vaustille-Kalos bay region, inside and within the vicinity of Mulfaer military outposts.
To the Mulfaers, this may be some sort of 'Fizzy Elixir of Vigilance', the name given to it by one alchemical engineer tasked with investigating its contents and effects.
"Fizzy" refers to the unusual bubbles and sound present in a fresh specimen of the elixir. It has not been determined what causes them; if they have been added as one ingredient or are a reaction between its ingredients. Translation of the ingredients list revealed several unknown components.
"Vigilance" refers to a heightened state of awareness and non-drowsiness experienced a short while after drinking it. Based on observations, it is speculated that Mulfaers also experience some form of the effect and that it might explain why they have been seen drinking the liquid while patrolling. Both Tala'mans and captured Mulfaers were interviewed and agree that, unlike a Vigilance spell or herbal alert aid given for a similar effect, the 'Fizzy Elixir of Vigilance' leaves the individual imbibing it feeling worse than before after the effect wears off. Despite this, those same Mulfaers stated that they enjoy the flavor and crave more after a can has been exhausted of its contents.
As described by Tala-mans who have drunk the liquid, it is torturous. They complained of horrible side effects, including nausea, burping and belching, pain in their mouth and throat, headaches, stomach and intestinal pain, cramping, and increased heart rate, but also exhaustion, sleepiness, and depression after the initial effects had worn off. They also described the taste as sickeningly sweet and acidic, although the flavor contained a not entirely unpleasant blend of spicy and citrusy notes, perhaps to make it more palatable. Speculation is that the bubbles cause the burping and belching side effect.
What is clear is that more research is required and for the test results to be completed and released.
