Scavenger
Career
Qualifications
Any one can become a scavanger if they're desperate.
Career Progression
The best scavengers are ones who learn the ins and out's of the Trench, and develop a keen understanding of machinery, its parts, and its functions.
Payment & Reimbursement
Scavengers work on bartering, what they are paid depends on what they selling, its quality, condition, quantity, and scarcity.
Perception
Purpose
Faced with no other alternative to make money, many unfortunates turn to the walls of the Trench, their very prison, for income. They specialize in searching for old technology and weapons to sell or use. Stripping parts from the walls and various systems of the Lower Levels and selling them to anyone who will buy them.
Because many individuals and factions have found ways to create their own makeshift technologies from parts found in the Trench, scavengers are often the source for the procurement of these parts.
Social Status
Considered one of, if not, the lowest of all professions in the Trench, Scavangers are looked down upon and treated as unintelligent, dirty, and shifty. They sell their wares to the local residents and junk dealers, forming a codependent circle of trade. However, they had a reputation for swindling, selling hastily refurbished equipment and faulty machine parts. Because of instances where scavangers stole parts that control things like lighting and temperature control for settlments, many in the Trench regard scavangers as rats living in the walls.
Operations
Workplace
The areas of the Trench in between settlements are a dark twisted maze filled with all sorts of unpleasantness that a scavanger will have to navigate around to find something to peddle.
Provided Services
Scavengers find all sorts of strange things to sell. If you want something, there's bound to be a scavenger somewhere selling it.
Despite the stereotype of scavangers being unintelligent, scavangers are some of the most attunded to the Trench's flow of life. They've memorized; patrols, what is going where, what dangers may be present at a given time.
