Mechanics & Inner Workings
In order to access its full power, one must be atuned to it, and only one person can be atuned to it at any time. In order to pass to a new wielder, the current must either be killed, or willingly give it up. As it grants an atuned wielder functional Immortality, this means that in practise, it can only pass into new hands if the current owner chooses to give it away.
Once atuned, it grants the wielder immortality, healing them from any wound and ressurecting them after any death, even if their body was burned to ash.
In addition to the powers it bestows in its wielder, the glaive is also a powerful weapon in and of itself. The edge of the blade is capable of slicing so finely it can separate individual atoms, meaning it can cut through even the skin of the Hulk , or slice through Uru.

Manufacturing process
According to legend, the blade was forged using Phoenix Fire rather than a normal forge, imbuing the metal with a spark of The Phoenix Force.
The material from which it is crafted is unknown - it has been theorised that it may be Uru. If this is true, it would be the only known Uru weapon not to be made by the Dwarves of Nidavellir.

Significance
As it contains a spark of The Phoenix Force, the glaive is considered one of the most sacred artefacts in the entire Shi'ar religion, in which the Phoenix is worshipped as one of the most important gods under the name Phal'kon.
