Cull Obsidian was an Araneon member of the Black Order, and the most physically powerful of Thanos's adopted children.
He was the biological brother of Corvus Glaive, and they were adopted by Thanos together.
His assisted his father in the quest for The Infinity Stones, and was eventually killed in combat during the Battle of Alkama Fields.

Personal history
Cull was the younger clutch-brother of Corvus Glaive, born in the starweb nests of Araneo during the reign of Orb-Weaver.
Facing discrimination for both being born with only four limbs, a moderately rare genetic mutation among their species, on top of the oppression and degredation of living under Orb-Weaver's tyranical rule, the brothers fled the planet as soon as they were able.
Lacking any marketable skills beyond their innate strength and speed, they became muscle for hire, working as bodyguards, bouncers, mercenaries, or hit men, and even spending some time as professional gladiators and prize fighters.
It was during this time that Corvus heard the legend of the Phal'kon Glaive, and the brothers set off in search of it. By coincidence, an agent of Orb-Weaver was seeking the same blade. When they refused to give it up, the agent warned them that the king would murder every member of their bloodline remaining on Araneo, and hunt them for the rest of their lives, but this did not sway them. As a result, they are the only surviving members of their bloodline.
When they first heard the legend of the mad Titan, they were immediately drawn to his philosophy. They had grown up on a planet unable to support its sapient population, where starvation and the need to fight for basic resources was an unavoidable feature of life for all but the king and his inner circle.

He is close to his clutch-brother, Corvus Glaive, and gets along well with his sister-in-law, Proxima Midnight. He tends to tune out most of what Ebony Maw says, and as a result he has a higher tollerance for him than Proxima does, but they are not particularly close.
He is the only member of the Black Order to hold any real affection for his younger sisters, the daughters of Thanos. He genuinely liked Black Swan and Nebula, and got along tollerably well with Moondragon. Only Gamora did he hold any ill-feeling for, as she had no tollerance for his slower mind and unique way of seeing the world.
He has faith in Thanos's abilities as a leader and general, and supports his goal, but he has no particular loyalty to him. However, his loyalty to Corvus is absolute, and Corvus is completely devoted to Thanos, so the end result is the same. As an Aranoe, he has no real conception of parents as mamalian species understand them, so does not consider Thanos to be his father. Instead, he views him as his king, and the head of his subweb, a belief reinforced by Thanos's psychic abilities.
