Star Tea

In a land that was forever shrouded by the Clouds, a reminder that the gods had abandoned them, Star Tea was different. Star Tea was special. Star Tea came with the Clouds in the bitter winter storms of the Snowdusk season, it was not unusual, and the people went outside little as it was. They thought little of how no pure sunlight shone through as it had in other years. Perhaps this year the storms were just worse. But it was with the spring season of Rosedawn that worry found its way into the heart of the people. The Clouds did not leave, and soon people found there were no blessings, or gifts, no sign of the gods. And that was when the realization struck them: the gods had abandoned them.

It has stayed like this for generations. The people hear myths and legends of another time, that you would not even consider possible, until you remember Star Tea. It is found everywhere: from the lavish silver tables in the noble courts of Everspruce, to the mud humble homesteads on the rolling green plains, a royal family in the snowcap mountains fleeing untold dangers, or a wayward bagger in the Windcurse Kingdom. Because Star Tea lets them see the sky. And the moon. And of course, the stars. Their land was once a land of stars. They, were once people of the stars. The people can feel it in the their blood. Most everyone had a gift, a spell or two from the stars in ancient times. And Star Tea gave them memories of that, of the people who had come before them, a feeling of family and connection. It is said, that Star Tea tastes different to people depending on the stars in their blood. To some, like chocolate, or orange, strawberry or apple pie. But always, a person's favorite thing. The food they love above all else.

But more than any of that, Star Tea gave the people something had not had in generations, since the time when the Clouds came, and that is hope.

The Star Plant: Brewing Star Tea

Star Tea is brewed from a special plant called, rather unoriginality, The Star Plant. The Star Plant was first found in the spring Rosedusk season found after the Clouds had come and stayed, found growing plentifully, yet not killing other plants that had managed to survive eternal shade. It has deep purple leaves, and a large light pink or purple flower that sits halfway up the plant. How people first decided to first drink tea from the flowers is rather shrouded in mystery. One myth of who first decided to try the mysterious plant: a young woman, at the order of the noblewomen she served, fetched a plant in order to test it's properties. She decided to pour boiling water over it, not even realizing she was going through the steps with which to make tea. And examined it with every sense, including taste. She found the effects magical, and soon Star Tea was found at every table throughout the lands. Another myth states that the young woman was trying to poison the noblewoman, or that she had gotten the last prophetic vision in her town before the Clouds came, to make tea with this flower when it came, and quickly told her mistress, and then she spread the news. Most people do not care where it came from so long as it's here.
