Slaad

The Slaadi are vile creatures of pure malice and chaos. They are definably unpredictable, making them a formidable foe for any mortal wishing to challenge them.   Coming in various subspecies, easily told apart by the vibrant skin tones, they reproduce in an exclusively violent manner. This tends to make them hated by practically any and all sapient species, meaning they provide a common enemy wherever they show up. This tends to mean that, when they're found out, they will be put down swiftly by any military helmed by a half-competent leader. Finding them tends to be the difficult part, though, due to their habit of never leaving anyone alive or behind to tell of their passing, coupled with their random and unpredictable nature. Prevention is the best cure for Slaadi, as it is with most hostile super-planar creatures.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Disappointingly, the most accurate description of a Slaad is that they cannot be described. Their bodies very closely mimic their home Plane of Limbo. Only their blood remains in its state, though it is unknown why. Some scholars believe this is what they use to infect humanoids, and hence it remains consistent, but it has never been proven.   The rest of their bodies are a constantly changing mass of every possible element, at every possible temperature. Their hide seems to retain some structure, even after death, though it is still wildly unpredictable, and must be handled with the utmost caution.

Genetics and Reproduction

They have an incredibly confusing method of reproduction. Each Slaad subspecies has a different method and none can produce the same subspecies as themselves.   Red Slaadi have the ability to plant under the skin of any host they slash with their claws a Slaad Tadpole. If left unchecked, this Tadpole will fully grow into a new Slaad, bursting out from the host's chest at the end of its gestation period. This new Slaad will always be a Blue Slaad.   The Blue Slaad can infect anyone its unique claws cut into with a disease that will slowly disfigure and transform the creature into a Red Slaad. In certain circumstances, however, this may birth a Green Slaad. Green Slaadi are born if the host creature was capable of spellcasting or on random chance, though it's rare in those situations.   No other Slaadi directly reproduce, instead, they evolve under specific circumstances. Green Slaadi slowly transform into a Grey Slaad after some time. Grey Slaad can become a Death Slaad by consuming the corpse of another Death Slaad. It is unknown how a White Slaad is born, though it is confirmed that they are the next stage. Beyond that, there are folk tales of the Black Slaad, a creature of immense power, capable of facing Lesser Deities. None have ever been seen and the rumour is assumed to be a myth.
