Dragonstone
History
Believed to have been created during the Age of Dragons by the clergy of the Grand Church, it was a key part of the Grand Cathedral's representation of the world and the Deities. When the Cataclysm befell the Terrene, and the world was shattered, the Dragonstone was lost.
An unknown time later, in the rebuilding after a shattering, the Stone was found by a tribe of Draconians in the Broken Forest. The shaman of the tribe recognized its spiritual importance, even without knowing anything about the religion that created it. She communed with the spirits and the Stone, and was granted some knowledge of the previous ages.
Over the many centuries since, the shamans of the tribe have continued to commune with the Stone, growing their understanding of the previous age and the structure of the Emerald Jewel.
Significance
The Dragonstone and the shamans that commune with it are the source of all knowledge of the Age of Dragons and the Emerald Jewel. The knowledge has slowly filtered out over the ages, and in many cases have been corrupted from what was originally discovered by the shamans.
While miniature versions of the symbol exist, including some made of jade or other precious materials, the Dragonstone is a singular artifact.
The Dragonstone is carved from jade, and the facets are inlaid with precious metals and gems in the carved dragon heads. The particular materials used are based on the ends of the axes that represent the facet:
- Life: gold
- Death: onyx
- Fire: carnelian
- Water: sapphire
- Earth: copper
- Air: amber
