Sylvira Savikas

Sylvira Savikas is a a tiefling wizard and the most prominent modern day scholar of the Nine Hells. She lives and operates out of Candlekeep.  

History

Around the early 1490s, Sylvira, by then an already established infernal scholar at Candlekeep, found the amnesiac hollyphant Lulu wandering around Elturgard. Despite her foggy history, Lulu appeared to recall enough information to about her past to make Sylvira believe that she had been present at the famed Charge of the Hellriders, where the centuries ago soldiers from Elturel and fought in Avernus itself.   Stunned, Sylvira took Lulu back to Candlekeep to see if she could learn more from the hollyphant with little success.   In 1497, Sylvira sent an assistant of hers, Falaster Fisk, to Baldur's Gate to investigate rumors that Duke Thalamara Vanthampur was invovled in the cult of Zariel, the archduke of Avernus. Unfortunately for Fisk, Sylvira's hunch was right and Fisk was imprisoned by Vanthampur, but was saved by the Lost Star Detectives.   After the Detectives retrieved the Shield of the Hidden Lord and an infernal puzzlebox from the Vanthampurs, Fisk invited them to come to Candlekeep with him to open the box. Sylvira was able to do so, revealing half of Naja Bellandi's Pact with Zariel, which was the cause of Elturel's ongoing damnation. The revelation of the pact also caused parts of Lulu's memory to return, revealing to all that Zariel was once a solar and Lulu's best friend.   Sylvira informed the Detectives that an infernal pact could only be destroyed if both halfs were united, and so the adventurers decided to venture into Avernus to rescue Elturel, with Lulu asking to tag along. Before they left, Sylvira also informed the Detectives that the shield they carried was connected to the archdevil Gargauth and offered to keep it locked in Candlekeep for them, but the Detectives took the advice of Sylvira's colleague Traxigor, who suggested taking it into Avernus to destroy it or drop it in the Styx.   Month later, in 1498, Sylvira was magically contacted by the Detectives, who were still in Avernus, that they were soon going to return Elturel to its original location in the Material Plane. Sylvira gathered many powerful mages and took them to Elturel to ensure that the crater Elturel once occupied was prepared for the city's return, which took longer than expected due to the time dilation of Hell. Because of Sylvira's preparations, Elturel was returned to its rightful place without harming any of the nearby refugees.
