Draconic Language

The draconic language is typically separated into two major dialects; high draconic is most frequently seen in old religious texts, frequently spoken by the dragon-gods or their draconic servants and almost never by mortals. While most religious historians are fluently familiar with high draconic, it is taboo to actually speak or write the dialect, as it is reserved for the gods themselves. Transcribing aging texts onto more a durable medium is the only exception to this restriction.

In contrast, low draconic is the form typically spoken by mortals in prayer and is also the language used for most historical records held by the church. This is also the form of draconic primarily used in fictional representations of the dragon-gods, as well as saints and other mythological beings, as it is not considered blasphemy for an actor or author to record such dialogue as it would be with high draconic.
