Starlight Frontier Freelancer

The job of a Starlight Frontier Freelancer is to invest time, resources, expertise, talent into developing a settlement on worlds in the Starlight Frontier after the terraforming of a new planet. As a result, the occupation is more of an umbrella term for a series of related data collection, engineering, logistics, construction, and farming and other occupations that collectively are used to develop and stabilize a community. Since part of the prospecting process is establishing how dangerous the terrain & environment has become, how dangerous the ever changing versions of seeded animals, plants, fungi, et cetera have become, plus a myriad of other things there’s a great deal of personal risk involved in being a frontier freelancer. What would the incentive be then? 1st, the initial starting land is given to those who are willing to put in the time, labor and effort into developing it. 2nd, Given the cultural shifts that have happened since the 21st century towards the time of this story, one of the main ones is a method of self-actualization. “Do I have what it takes to be the best version of myself? To take these skills I've developed and do something?” The 3rd motivation is the old desire to be free of restraints. The restraints one seeks to be free of may lead to innovation or strife. The danger from wildlife and fellow humans make the transition from stable life to frontier life are not worth it for most people. The great many who attempt to live the dream of a Freelancer find the honest hardships nothing like the fantasies they had somehow derived from the history books they had read. So many who try, fail in sustaining any settlement they seek to build. Those who managed not just to survive, but to thrive against the difficulties put forth by the Starlight frontier are forever immortalized in the histories of the Resonant Collective. Whether history remembers you in fame or infamy is often up to how you affect other in your strive to thrive.
