Mighty Chief of the Mark

The story of Chief Meleheta.

Many years ago, in our modern day, a child, called Meleheta, was born with quite a strange occurance. Above his bed a single eye unblinking looked down and marked him with a beautiful tattoo which imbued him with powers most magical.   This child went outside and soon found himself wrassling with the mountain itself! Yes, indeed - a mighty earth elemental rose from the earth, but the child's tattoo glowed and he threw it into the river, and it formed a mighty upcrop and a waterfall which remains there to this day.   Meleheta smoked with Coyote who was fascinated by the tattoo, and quite jealous. Coyote, in typical Coyote fashion, tried taking off the tattoo but Meleheta simply laughed and burned him so bad Coyote's beautiful fur fell off and left him bald. Coyote turned red as a tomato and ran away with his tail in between his legs!   Then came a mighty draught right here in the canyon. Well, Meleheta got angry at the sky and the clouds and went up and punched the clouds so hard they began crying and refurbished the land!   At this point Meleheta was made Chief of Laurelindórinan. His hair was mighty and white and he was as thick as four tree-trunks, and he took many husbands and wives, though this was not even tradition at the time.   Unhappy with his accomplishments thus far, Meleheta went out to find the skeleton of Old Quetzalcoatl, one of the dragons from the days of the Empire, and was so angry he screamed into the underworld beneath and forced its soul back into its skeleton, just so he could fight it and crack its skull and send it back, humiliated.   Meleheta realized he was missing a legacy, so he went to the weird aaracokra and decided to teach them to actually speak our language. By the time he was finished three days later, he had fathered three aaracokra children, was Master of three of their tribes, and made friends with them and the koradi forever.   Meleheta was starting to grow old, but only because Meleheta allowed this. He decided he'd had enough, so when he died, he went to the tallest rock and exploded, making a huge glow of lights and raining down sugar and milk upon the land, laughing as he left.   So remember kids, if you are marked by the eye, you can be as strong as Meleheta!
