Sentinel
Sentinels were created in the wake of the Eruption and Battle for Terra Novis as the realm was in chaos and former buildings in ruins. Leonin, gnomes, humans, and many more labored to create magical beings of great strength and hardiness to help rebuild. The result, invented by genius half-orc María Jimenez Valdosa, are the sentinels. Sentinels are much like children at the start of life, and built as peaceful guardians they seek to build, construct, and be peaceful, though they are also hired as guards throughout Terra Novis and the mighty Arcane Legion as a defensive nation. However, even the high centurions have rarely drawn blood as their ranks are also accompanies by golems who make the rank and file of the army. Sentinels enjoy keeping their numbers consistent - at fifty thousand strong - and build more to replace. Sentinels are largely innocent to the darkness of the world, though many feel wanderlust and a desire to see the world.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Sentinels are formed from a blend of organic and inorganic materials. Root-like cords infused with alchemical fluids serve as their muscles, wrapped around a framework of steel, darkwood, or stone. Armored plates form a protective outer shell and reinforce joints. Sentinels share a common facial design, with a hinged jaw and crystal eyes embedded beneath a reinforced brow ridge. Beyond these common elements of sentinel design, the precise materials and build of a sentinel vary based on the purpose for which it was designed.
Although they were manufactured, sentinels are living humanoids. Resting, healing magic, and the Medicine skill all provide the same benefits to sentinels that they do to other humanoids.
Genetics and Reproduction
Trained sentinels may construct another sentinel approximately ten to five years before their own death. It could ostensibly be done at another time, but no sentinel has ever done so.
There is no sexual dimorphism or characteristics. Most refer to sentinels as male due to their build and traditionally masculine roles, but sentinels may choose their preferred gender, discard the notion altogether, or switch as desired throughout their life.
