Flame Spike

Effect

Flame Spike generates a narrow object out of fire, usually similar in shape to an arrow, spear, or even needle, which is then launched at speeds ranging up to 1,000 km per hour once directed by the caster via gesture. The object dissipates once it makes impact, usually splintering first. The flame is resilient to being extinguished.

Manifestation

Flame Spikes consistently smell like burning ash wood. It's unclear why, as it doesn't have any material components and thus isn't burning the same type of wood consistently, but some scholars believe it to be caused by a specific casting mark shared by its cousin spell Force Bolt, which has a similar olfactory effect.

Material Components

Flame Spike requires access to red chroma to cast. The caster can use a red focus if they do not have a red soul.
