Enthrallment
Effect
Enthrallment connects the wills of two beings, with one, the caster, having control over the enthrallment. The connection most commonly takes the form of the will of one participant overwhelming the other into submission, but there are known cases of mutual Enthrallment.
While Enthrallment has an exceedingly poor reputation due to deservingly notorious uses of it, Enthrallment does not automatically equate to a complete enslavement of a person's will. Enthrallment is used to control constructs, lesser resurrected, and in rare cases is involved in consensual servitude.
Notably the majority of known cases in which Enthrallment was used consensually involved a demonic contract, which despite their many faults are guaranteed to have every condition of the agreement somewhere in the contract. Due to the nature of Enthrallment it is inherently difficult to judge wether the Enthrallment is truly consensual once it has occurred, so records are somewhat limited to those who made it clear to those around them they were going to be Enthralled by choice prior to it occurring.
Enthrallment requires a large, monochromatic purple soul or the ability to be granted via void essence.
Enthrallment is somewhat limited in groups capable of using it, those being monochromic purple creatures such as ancient purple wyrms and manticore, or demons and their relatives. All demons have the ability to Enthrall, and sometimes grant this ability to non-demons to allow them to join the ranks of the Rings of Hell. Pride demons are the most notable for their ability to Enthrall as their control is significantly greater than other demons, and their close relatives share their penchant for control. A prime example of Pride's relatives being vampires, who have the natural ability to Enthrall with their bite.*
*Vampires are capable of feeding directly without Enthralling their victim, not every vampire bite will do so automatically, in much the same way not every venomous snake bite will include venom.
The use of Enthrallment on sentient or sapient creatures is considered inhumane and as such has been made illegal almost everywhere with a legislative system. While knowing how to and being able to use Enthrallment are not crimes on their own as that would criminalize entire species, those who can are often ostracized.
