Stuntman I
Background:
Jack Monroe was born into a working-class Irish-American family in Los Angeles during the Great Depression. From a young age, Jack exhibited a natural talent for acrobatics, an ability he honed to help support his family by performing stunts and acrobatic shows at carnivals. During World War II, Jack served as a paratrooper, where he learned hand-to-hand combat and developed nerves of steel—qualities that would serve him well later in life. After the war, Jack returned to Hollywood, drawn by the booming film industry and the promise of excitement and adventure.
Jack found work as a stuntman for action films, westerns, and thrillers, earning a reputation for his daring stunts and his ability to pull off death-defying feats. He became known in the industry as "The Stuntman," a nickname that would later take on a new meaning as he donned a mask to fight crime in Hollywood. During the late 1940s and into the 1950s, organized crime began to take root in Hollywood, with mobsters extorting film studios, shaking down actors, and taking control of unions.
Outraged by the Mafia's encroachment on the city he loved and the industry that had given him a livelihood, Jack decided to fight back. Using the skills he had developed as a stuntman and a soldier, Jack began to operate as a vigilante, taking on the Mafia in daring and often theatrical ways. He wore a costume inspired by his movie roles—a leather jacket, a mask to hide his identity, and reinforced clothing for protection. He would strike from the shadows, using his agility and combat skills to dismantle the Mafia's operations in Hollywood one piece at a time.
Personality:
Jack Monroe is a thrill-seeker by nature, always drawn to the next big adventure, the next challenge. He has a strong sense of justice and refuses to sit idly by while corruption and crime spread through his beloved Hollywood. Jack is fiercely protective of those he cares about, including his fellow stunt performers and the underpaid workers in the film industry. He has a charming, devil-may-care attitude and often uses humor to diffuse tense situations, even in the midst of battle. Despite his confident exterior, Jack is haunted by the memories of war and the friends he lost, driving his determination to protect others from harm. Jack has a natural charisma that makes him likable, both on-screen and off, but he can also be intensely focused and relentless when it comes to fighting the Mafia. He sees his work as The Stuntman as just another kind of performance—one where the stakes are life and death. Though he knows that one day he might not be able to walk away from the fight, Jack is willing to take that risk if it means keeping Hollywood free from the Mafia’s grip.
