Necro-Tech

Eleanor Lucinda Austin (a.k.a. Rose Black, Lilly White, Miss Graves, The Reanimator, Doctor Death)

Background:

Eleanor Austin, the woman who would become the chillingly innovative villain Necro-Tech, displayed exceptional intelligence from a young age, promising a brilliant future. However, a brush with death at an early age irrevocably altered the course of her life. When as a young girl she nearly died due to a congenital heart defect she had been born with, this however didn't instill in her a fear of mortality; instead, it ignited a dark fascination with the beauty and mystery of death. This experience became the catalyst for her obsession, driving her to immerse herself in the study of advanced medicine and the nascent field of cybernetics, determined to mend her own flawed heart. These pursuits laid the groundwork for her mastery of the super-scientific disciplines that would ultimately define her. Her first cybernetic implants weren't external augmentations; they were internal, designed to keep her own heart beating.
As Eleanor delved deeper into her research, exploring the liminal space between life and death, her focus shifted from healing to manipulating the very processes of life and death. Those who funded her work grew increasingly uneasy with her macabre focus, eventually cutting off her resources. Undeterred, she turned to more… unconventional methods of funding her increasingly unorthodox research. Using her burgeoning technological skills, she created crude, corpse-based automatons to steal the necessary resources. These early "tech zombies" were far from the sophisticated creations she would later perfect, but they served their purpose.
Over time, Eleanor's creations evolved, becoming far more advanced and controllable. Her expertise in chemistry and cybernetics allowed her to create increasingly nightmarish tech-undead beings. She established a clandestine, black-market enterprise, selling cutting-edge (and often ethically dubious) cybernetics, genetic information, and even her undead minions to those willing to provide her with the necessary funding and resources to fuel her relentless pursuit of knowledge and mastery over death. Her operations are shrouded in secrecy, and the true extent of her influence remains unknown, but her name whispers in the shadows - a chilling testament to her ambition and her macabre genius. Her hidden laboratory, located within the abandoned Blackwood Asylum, shrouded in mist and hidden deep within the sprawling forests near the Manitoba border, has become a hub for her dark experiments and the birthplace of her ever-evolving creations.
A Missing Piece and a New Obsession:
Despite her considerable expertise, one area of advanced science remains frustratingly beyond Necro-Tech's grasp: the intricate field of nanotechnology. She recognizes the immense potential of nanotechnology to further her research, particularly in seamlessly fusing flesh and machine and enhancing her control over inert biomass. This lack of mastery has become a new obsession, a puzzle she is determined to solve. Her attention has been drawn to Right Tech International and its brilliant innovator and superhero, Mister Right. She views Jason Wright as the key to unlocking the secrets of nanotechnology, and she craves the opportunity to capture him, extract the technology from his bio-augmented body, and reverse engineer it for her own nefarious purposes. She believes that mastering this technology is the key to achieving her ultimate goal: not just controlling death, but transcending it entirely, perhaps even achieving a form of digital immortality by transferring her own consciousness into a perfectly preserved, nanite-enhanced body. Mister Right has become a target, not just as a symbol of technological advancement, but as a means to an end in Necro-Tech's grand design.
  Personality
She is intelligent, driven, and utterly ruthless in her relentless pursuit of scientific knowledge, utterly disregarding ethical considerations. Her demeanor is typically cold, cool, and collected, projecting an air of detached superiority. However, beneath this veneer of icy composure lies a borderline manic obsession with death and all things macabre. She doesn't merely study death; she revels in it, finding a strange and unsettling beauty in bones, skulls, decaying flesh, and the processes of decomposition. Her fascination isn't purely intellectual; it's almost aesthetic, bordering on fetishistic.
She sees death not as an end but as a transition, a puzzle to be solved, a mystery to be mastered. Her "cyber-goth necromancer" aesthetic isn't just a fashion statement; it's an outward expression of her inner world, a celebration of the darkness she embraces. While she can be charming and manipulative when necessary, her true passion lies in her work with the dead, and she views living beings as ultimately flawed and temporary, mere vessels destined for the "perfection" of death. Her own brush with death at a young age, the congenital heart defect that necessitated her early cybernetic enhancements, has only fueled her obsession, driving her to conquer mortality itself. She sees the human body as a flawed design, a temporary vessel ripe for improvement through technology and her unique understanding of life and death.
Necro-Tech is driven by nothing short of a pure, all-consuming desire for knowledge, understanding, and ultimately, mastery. Her fascination with death and all things associated with it fuels an insatiable hunger to explore the intricate sciences of life, death, growth, and decay. Beneath her cool, collected exterior and the intricate network of cybernetics lies a deep and dark passion – a relentless pursuit of the secrets of existence and the power to command its ultimate transition. She seeks not merely to understand death, but to transcend it, to unravel its mysteries and bend it to her will. Her quest for knowledge is not simply academic; it is a visceral need, a driving force that consumes her every thought and action. For Necro-Tech, death is not an ending, but a challenge, a frontier to be conquered, and she will stop at nothing to achieve her ultimate goal: dominion over the very essence of life and death. The elusive secrets of nanotechnology, embodied by Mister Right, have become the latest obsession in her grand design, a key she believes will unlock the next stage of her macabre evolution.
Powers/Skills/Abilities of note: (WIP)
Macabre Super Genius: A brilliant polymath scientist specializing in the intersection of biochemistry, cybernetics, and thanatology (the study of death). Her expertise encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including chemistry, robotics, bio-electric stimulation, and AI development, all in service of her unique and disturbing field of research. She is a master of bio-engineering, cybernetics, and biochemistry, creating and integrating advanced cybernetics, particularly for reanimation. Her biochemical expertise allows her to create specialized chemicals for preserving and manipulating dead tissue, from embalming fluids to flesh-crafting compounds. Her extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, neurology, forensic science, genetics, molecular biology, developmental biology, and microbiology informs her macabre work, allowing her to push the boundaries of science into truly terrifying territories.
Bio-Electric Stimulation Science: Employs precisely calibrated electrical pulses to activate and control her reanimated creations. This stimulation is not merely a jolt of electricity; it's a carefully orchestrated sequence that interacts with the cybernetics and nanobots to achieve complex movements and even rudimentary "thought" processes.
"Tech Zombie" Creation: Capable of reanimating corpses using a combination of cybernetics, nanotechnology, biochemicals, and electrical stimulation, creating controllable, if decaying, servants. Her creations range from crude, decaying automatons to nightmarish cyber-corpses with varying degrees of technological horror fused with their dead flesh. She employs varying degrees of preservation, from near-perfect embalming to intentional decay for specific effects
"Skelebots" Creation: Utilizing bones as frames, she creates lightweight skeletal automatons plated with durable materials. These "Skelebots" are equipped with a limited combat AI and the necessary wiring and robotic enhancements for movement and combat.
"Stitched" Soldier Creation: An avid recycler, she uses even seemingly useless, decayed, or damaged biomass. These materials are processed and used as fodder for her flesh vats or incorporated into her Frankenstein-like "Stitched" Soldiers – reassembled monstrosities combining various biological components with cybernetics.
Cybernetics: Necro-Tech's cybernetic enhancements are impressive, but their primary function is not combat prowess. While they do contribute to her enhanced strength and resilience, their design is predominantly focused on augmenting her surgical and medical expertise, making her a superior (albeit terrifying) practitioner of her dark craft. These enhancements include:
Retractable Scalpel-like Claws: Hidden within her fingertips, these razor-sharp claws allow for precise incisions and dissections, essential for her work with corpses and living subjects alike.
Cybernetic Eyes: Her enhanced vision allows for microscopic magnification, enabling her to examine cellular structures and identify even the smallest anomalies in tissue, both living and dead. They also incorporate other enhancements, such as infrared or ultraviolet vision, to aid in her research.
Internal Manipulators: Small, articulated retractable tentacle like manipulators integrated into her arms and hands allow for incredibly delicate and precise movements during surgical procedures and experiments. These are used for manipulating tissues, handling fragile samples, or even performing intricate repairs on her cybernetic creations.
Data Interface: A discreet data port allows her to directly interface with her laboratory's computer systems, accessing research data, controlling her nanobots, and monitoring the vital signs (or lack thereof) of her subjects.
Self-Preservation Systems: While not directly related to her medical skills, her cybernetics include systems designed for her own survival. These include toxin filters, internal backup systems for vital organs, and a form of suspended animation that she can activate in extreme circumstances.
Subtle Strength and Speed Enhancements: The cybernetics, while primarily for medical purposes, also subtly enhance her strength, speed, and reflexes. This is a secondary benefit, not the primary focus of their design, but it nonetheless makes her a formidable physical presence.
"Digital Preservation" Research: Currently experimenting with electrical impulses in the brain, toying with the concept of the "soul" and ways of transferring and preserving it in digital form. Rumors persist that she has already achieved this with her own mind, using cloned bodies as vessels, akin to some manner of techno-lich.
