Johnny Liberty
Background:
John Parker grew up in the working-class neighborhoods of Philadelphia, where he was raised on stories of American heroes and ideals of liberty and justice. However, unlike the stories, his life was marked by fear. A self-confessed coward, John often avoided confrontation and was ridiculed by peers for his reluctance to fight. Despite his fear, he was deeply principled, refusing to compromise his values or shirk his responsibilities.
When the U.S. entered World War II, John was conscripted, and though terrified, he resolved not to be a draft dodger or traitor. He underwent basic training, but his fear of combat never subsided. Despite this, he found courage in his belief that protecting others was a cause worth risking his life for.
In the Mediterranean Theater, during an operation to disrupt Axis forces in a small Greek village, John’s bravery was tested when he faught his fear and acted sefllessly to disrupt a Nazi ritual led by an warlock SS officer attempting to wield dark magical forces. Mortally wounded, John was chosen by Zeus to bear a divine power as the living lighting bolt enhancing his speed and strength to superhuman levels, He could move as fast as lighting and strike like crack of thunder, transforming him into a literal living force of nature.
Now known as Johnny Liberty, he represents not just the strength of his newfound powers but the courage to act despite overwhelming fear. He fights as part of the Allied Special Operations, using his abilities to strike against Axis forces and stand as a symbol of hope in the darkest times.
Personality:
Johnny Liberty is a man shaped by fear but defined by courage. He remains humble and self-aware, acutely conscious of the responsibilities his powers bring. His natural kindness and empathy make him a compassionate hero who values every life he protects.
Though he carries the weight of his insecurities and self-doubt, Johnny has a deep reservoir of determination and a strong moral compass. His transformation into a superhuman has made him a reluctant symbol of hope, and he strives to live up to that ideal, even when he feels unworthy.
Johnny is quick-witted, with a dry sense of humor that helps him cope with the horrors of war. He’s fiercely loyal to his comrades and deeply respectful of the sacrifices made by ordinary soldiers. Despite his powers, Johnny never forgets the bravery of those who fight alongside him without the same advantages.
Above all, Johnny Liberty is driven by the belief that courage is not the absence of fear but the will to act in spite of it.
