General Summary
Scene: Dreamflower speaks with Seline
Seline mentions that Maree-Lynn is marked for a weighty destiny.
Seline asks Dreamflower’s opinion of Just Distribution of Abundance, especially because Just Distribution is “outside of Fate.”
Seline is herself a little perplexed by how Fortifier and the Alchemicals from Great Forks all appear within the Loom of Fate, but Just Distribution is not. This puzzles and somewhat worries her.
She knows Stelsor also does not appear within it.
Dreamflower largely supports Seline’s working theory that Just Distribution has no threads in the Loom because she comes from Autochthonia.
Dreamflower is aware of many gaps in her own knowledge about Fate and asks if Seline might share more.
Seline says she is not supposed to tell, but that she lent Prital a text on the subject and implies no one is likely to get in trouble if a Sidereal has an item checked out a little longer than expected.
On a personality level, Dreamflower says she has been impressed and pleased by Just Distribution’s curiosity.
Seline is called away. Just before she leaves, Dreamflower asks Seline about finding a Sidereal martial arts instructor.
Seline mentions that Alton Sabriel (often at his gallery here in Nexus) and Flying Feet are masters who might be open to teaching a Solar.
Dreamflower mentions an obscure style she had read fragments about. Seline says she doesn’t know of any masters of that style from the last 400 years.
Seline knew that, prior to the Usurpation, a previous incarnation of Dreamflower had trained Prismatic Arrangement of Creation Style.
She hints that Dreamflower’s connection with Tide-Tamer might help her access memories about this.
Seline also says Heaven would likely be quite frightened of a Solar who masters this style, so tread lightly when asking for this.
Scene: Fortifier checks up on the test subjects.
Sunduin, the innkeeper, has a side effect of feeling very thirsty while still being adequately hydrated.
Fortifier and Dreamflower diagnose that the Sublime Twilight and Black Sunshine weren’t the only substances affecting Sunduin: she had also been consuming a lot of alcohol.
The prognosis is favorable if Sunduin doesn’t go back to drinking for a few weeks. This will be a challenge since she owns and operates an alcohol-serving business.
Olive Oyl is struggling to sleep more than 2 hours a night.
Fortifier has documented that she keeps waking up screaming and then is unable to get back asleep.
Dreamflower asks what Olive remembers just before she wakes up. Olive claims she never remembers after waking up, but detects this is a lie and coaxes her to tell us.
“My Vorasha, my Warpstone, they’re taking them away from me again.”
A recurring nightmare that her children are being taken from her.
Vorasha is her daughter, but she raised Trances of Vitriol and Warpstone.
Dreamflower uses sorcery to grant Olive peaceful sleep.
Fortifier feels these trials of Sublime Twilight have been a manageable success.
We hear a scream from the basement.
Fortifier asks Dreamflower if she feels the elementals we posted are still bound. From what Dreamflower can sense remotely, the elementals are still here.
Scene: Maree-Lynn’s room
When we arrive outside Maree-Lynn’s room, we meet Stelsor and Just Distribution of Abundance who had heard it also.
As soon as we enter, Stelsor rushes to comfort and cheer up Maree-Lynn.
Nyeah materializes now, long after the shriek. Nyah had already been invisibly present before we entered.
We ask Nyeah why she was in the room.
She had been immaterial and going through the wall to return a book to Prital, but stopped to watch this captivating child for perhaps an hour before Maree-Lynn woke up and screamed from seeing her (while Nyeah was still invisible to mundane senses).
Dreamflower questions why the elementals didn’t alert us.
The elementals guarding Maree-Lynn detected Nyeah, but, as she was one of our long-time guests in the house at the time the command was given, the elementals didn’t count Nyeah as an intruder.
Fortifier asks what Nyeah noticed about the child that was so interesting.
(The novelty of finding the child at all is part of it. Nyeah complains her days have been dull for some time now.)
Nyeah asked if the child had been in a shadowland because sensed some of The Underworld from her.
Fortifier explains she had been hidden in Liveeasy before coming here.
Nyeah extends a transparent hand to the child and the child’s hand also becomes transparent.
Nyeah is pretty sure one of Maree-Lynn’s parents is a spirit of some kind, probably a ghost.
It finally clicks for Fortifier that we knew Fruza was attuned to a powerful artifact from the Underworld and yet that normally isn’t possible for mundane mortals.
Could it be possible that Fruza has actually been dead for years?
What does this mean for Maree-Lynn?
We consider that we may have to ask someone who has been undead longer to get background on this.
