General Summary
Scene: Stelsor scene
Stelsor talked with mattresses family, Director Norma Jean, and Director Byorn and Director Blue Eyes.
He spoke with the guild directors on the request of Norma Jean who wanted them distracted.
He learned that both had relationships with her, and that she is independent and a highly effective manager.
The directors do not care much for Director Fruza, Guild Import Director of Nexus.
They were not surprised to learn Furza had ties to The Lover Clad in the Raiment of Tears.
Scene: Fortifier
Ar-Duke Pritchard, warlord of Metagalapa and "Solid" Eressanada Purrio are arguing.
Eressanada laments that his artwork was once worked into the great constructions in Autochthonia.
Eressanada has been listening to Ar-Duke’s boasts of his deeds as the August General of the East in the glorious First Age and fought in the Balorian Crusade, leading 1 full half of Ignis Divine’s forces against the Fair Folk.
Eressanada brings up that there is a rumor that Fortifier has met with Autochthon
Ar-Duke reminds them that there is another great Primordial to survive the Divine Revolution, Cytherea.
She is the Engine of Ignition, the spark that lit Ligier and Unconquered Sun.
Fortifier asks if Ar-Duke knows what became of Cytherea. He says there are rumors that she has gone away and that this is who Luna and Gaia search for.
Ar-Duke says that many have encountered Cytherea’s offspring.
Fortifier asks if these would be Exaltations or perhaps something similar to the Elemental Dragons.
Ar-Duke drops that Trances of Vitriol and Warpstone is a chosen of Cytherea. Trances is an Infernal because creating
Ar-Duke recalls meeting Cytherea before the Great Contagion. He points to the West and says 12 centuries ago the Calines were the Cyclopean Kingdoms.
Pritchard had not yet found Metagalapa and was traveling with a group of other Solars.
They challenged a behemoth of boggling proportions named Pophemus. Despite their Exalted might, they were losing ground until Cytherea herself appeared and sang a song of potentials. At that, the behemoth formed a giant chrysalis, from which emerged several giant butterflies.
Says that witnessing a Primordial is a transformative encounter.
Each of his companions would go on to immortalize or commemorate this in some form.
The Calinese recall this event in their own way and have done this annually 1299 times. It is a festival of preserving food and sharing it to reinforce community bonds.
Fortifier and Ar-Duke drink together and Fortifier asks what became of the great butterflies. Ar-Duke says they are said to have flown upward for 3 years and a day and entered Yu-Shan. It is said that some to this say will answer to Pophemus.
They are enigmatic creatures that are difficult to communicate with, but they are known as gentle creatures and known to sometimes guide residents.
Scene: Planning the incursion into Thorns
The plan is to have Stelsor tunnel into the city, though we need to figure out where to come up.
Thorns was once known for its wine industry, but we reason that the wine cellars are likely derelict at the moment: the dead don’t really drink wine and the living have so little to eat to that they are unlikely to be bothering with viticulture right now.
Wisdom’s Shining Promise is feeling somewhat better and Karal Kallias is still resting.
Fortifier pitches the concept of establishing a covert base to help the residents of Thorns and eventually build up a resistance force. We are looking for material support initially, explaining they would only need to get the supplies to us and we will smuggle them into Thorns.
Wisdom says that back in Great Forks Sees-your-soul has been pushing for the city to intervene in Thorns basically on human rights grounds.
Wisdom tells us that Karal Kallias had talks with the Chumyo of Lookshy about this.
Fortifier avoids mentioning some of the specific such as naming the Nefvarin Compound. These two are recovering from a different Deathlord invading their minds, so knowing less of the specifics helps protect them and the mission.
Stelsor suggests we also work in some stuff that will incriminate the Lover. Fortifier thinks we could counterfeit some of those banners we saw in Prasad.
Her singing talent is preternatural. We can sense she is likely using her Solar expertise to throw her voice to the shadow puppet.
--The second song she sings is a popular number from
Melkin, the theatre writer in red’s circus last year.
The third song is much deeper, a dirge from the Northeast. It laments the loss of a lover to The Lover and the last verse exhorts listeners to act against the Deathlord.
After the songs, we talk to Combative Mattresses and his daughters.
Fortifier asks if Satrapi "Came back wrong" Kuan-Jin is available for a mission. Unfortunately, Combative Mattresses had already lent Kuan-jin’s help to Stelsor for something else.
Stelsor explains that we’re working on some maps of Thorns
We get an intelligence dump
A guy bears a strong resemblance to Nightsweat-borne maybe a first cousin, perhaps another Nefvarin.
Scene: cut to inside the Nefvarin Compound in Thorns
Stelsor, Fortifier, and Repatriator of Souls flew Little Cloud to the plains around Thorns and find an abandoned farmhouse to help disguise our tunnel entrance.
Stelsor uses his monstrous form to dig a tunnel under the walls and into cellars of the Nefvarin Compound.
Theres 5 layers of basement. The 2nd basement is the main wine cellar.
Stelsor’s tremor senses determines that the neighboring house of V’neef doesn’t have enemies.
Fortifier sets up a salt line around the tunnel entrance in the farmhouse, just in case there are any undead patrolling outside the city.
By bringing sorcerers who know Travel Without Distance, we can use that to return to the farmhouse
We are able to smuggle in an initial 2 tons of food for the living of Thorns.
