Epitaph

Epitaph

He issued a warning, heeded by too little few. What came next made the Necro War seem like child's play.

Personal history

Seeded by Amrah on a distant volcanic moon, Epitaph was her hidden experiment gone wrong. She had hoped to create the ultimate tool, but had instead bred a chaotic being. She abandoned him on the moon, expecting the local fauna to make short work of the fledgling Celestial. Epitaph, however, had expected this betrayal, and created a journal, which he poured a small part of his being into. He planted the journal on Amrah, expecting her to unwittingly bring it with her back to the Skylands, which she did. It was lost somewhere within the skylands for hundreds of years.   During that time, Epitaph grew his powers and his army, taming the demon-like creatures of his moon. He used his new army to conquer nearby satellites and moons, conquering them and killing any Celestials he came across. When he found local lifeforms he deemed worthy, he'd fold them into his army; otherwise he left them ravaged and devoid of all life. He waited eagerly for the day his journal could trick somebody into sending a beacon, so that he might send his terrifying army to exact his revenge on Amrah, and take her godhood.   It was nearly a thousand years after his abandonment before Epitaph got the signal. His journal had finally tricked someone into sending a beacon strong enough to be seen from his location. In this case, it was the Bear King, a sentient bear born of the events following the arrival of the Drift (Fatemakers Session Three: Awakenings.) When the Bear King is slain by a ragtag group of adventurers, he uses the journal to send his warning to the Skylands. With the warning sent, he gathered his army, and set out to travel across the galaxy to seek his revenge.
