Docking and Boarding

If a ship is big enough and has space, a smaller vessel can simply fly into its docking bay. When two ships wish to dock with each other, they can lock onto each other’s outer airlock. All ships (except A-class) have an adaptable outer airlock ring. This is made from a carbon fiber polymer woven with titanium fibers and magnetic nanites. If both ships are willing to dock, these rings lock onto each other and create a sealed tunnel between the ships, roughly one hundred meters long. Docking with another ship when both ships are cooperating and the circumstances are ideal seldom requires a roll if the pilot has at least 2 in Piloting. Negative modifiers apply depending on outer circumstances (environmental stress, damaged ship, etc.), but there are two that are specific to docking.
  Boarding a hostile ship often means that you need to get crew members on her hull, actually cutting through the hull or an airlock. The best way is to have someone bypass the security of the airlock in order to avoid harming the ship, if the boarding party wants it intact. Jet packs and grappling hooks and a whole lot of danger are usually on the menu.
  Imagine hurtling toward a ship from another one in mid-space, hanging on by a line...
    Circumstance = Modifier:
Matching Speed = -2
Docking with unmanned ship = -1
