Gaurwaith

Mechanics & Inner Workings

All it’s abilities are unknown, but two passed down as legend were the uttering of elvish word for “free”could free a man of his bonds and it could allow you to breathe water like a fish once a day. If there were other powers, legend says they could only be utilized by a member of the Blackwulf bloodline.

History

Gaurwaith (elvish for "wolf man") was crafted centuries ago by the Royal Imperial Wizard, Rassilon, around the year 2130 C.Y, Emperor Romulus commanded his royal wizard to create the weapon as a gift for the Baron Zigurd Blackwulf, ruling noble of the outpost fortress of Oathheath. It was a powerful magical weapon that was meant to be a symbol of nobility and rulership of the eastern border barony and its surrounding lands.

A prophecy of sorts was decreed by Rassilon himself that whomover possessed Gaurwaith shall be the rightful ruler of Oathheath. For over 300 years the sword was passed down from baron to heir, with that heir using Gaurwaith as a badge of office to ascend to ruler of the barony. Then little more than 320 years later, Prince Ildanar, heir to the Imperial throne led his fateful expedition to Emperor's Rift and awakened the horde of demonic shadows that quickly overran the empire of Celinad. Due to the proximity of it's location, Oathheath was the first land to fall to the demon army. The ruling baron at the time, Klain Blackwulf , reatreated with Oathheath's survivors to help the Emperor make a final stand, raising Gaurwaith defiantly as he fell to the demonic horde. After the fall of Celinad, the sword was presumed lost among the ruins as no ruling baron has had it in their possession since.

Significance

The sword is seen as a symbol leadership and lordship to the city of Oathheath, and that possession of it legitimizes the claim that the wielder of Gaurwaith is to the sit as the Baron of Oathheath. Gaurwaith was said to be a powerful magical weapon.
