Mongolian Empire

The year is 1206 AD
Temujin, ground-dwelling steppe scavenger, has just proclaimed himself 'khan of all between the oceans,' or, Genghis Khan. His wife, lover and helpmate, Borte, is at his side. With all of China, Siberia and Central Asia in his grasp, he continues his push westward, determined to conquer all the lands in his path and rule the world.
Meanwhile, Catholic Europe sits spellbound and terrified in their pews, while the parish priests rail at the threat from the East. The Devil's Horsemen are thundering across the steppe, laying waste to every city and hamlet in their path. They intend to conquer all of Europe until they reach the sea.
Siege warfare is their favored strategy for conquest. They surround their targeted city and simply wait for the starving populace to show themselves, then pick them off with their arrows from the backs of their hardy steppe ponies. When the town surrenders, not a single creature escapes. Even insects are killed. And the bones of the dead are piled into towers surrounding the city walls.
