Avarga
Steppe expanse located at the confluence of the Avarga Stream and the Kherlen River, at the foot of the Khentii Mountains.
Avarga became the home base of the early Mongolian Empire, then its winter base camp later in Genghis Khan's rule. After the empire outgrew its confines during the rule of Ogedei, Genghis Khan's third son and successor, the capital was moved to Karakorum .
In the story, Borte asks Temujin to move their base of operations from the Kimurka Narrows to Avarga after his defeat and execution of his cousins Altan and Kuchar and his uncle, Sacha-Beki of the Jurkin tribe. It is where she decided to make the Mongol nation's permanent home. At Avarga, the great khurultai of 1206 was held where Temujin took the name Genghis Khan.
Geography
Avarga was located at the confluence of the Kherlen River and the Avarga Stream (Some sources say the Tsenker R. rather than the Avarga). The land is flat and barren, covered with grasses as far as the eye can see. No trees, shrubs or mountains break the horizon.
