The Ningen-2 Revolt

Cause

Ningen-2 was already an unhospitable place but the exploitation of its resources only made it worse. The miners working on Ningen-2 were faced with toxic air, corrosive rain and perilous mines. At the same time, their salaries were lousy, their equipment old and hazard pay non-existent. The workers were fed up and decided to do something about it. With help from an insider, they smuggled weapons onto the planet and planned an uprising. While technically unsuccessful and resulting in multiple casualities, the revolt caught the attention of the public media which reported on it extensively.

Consequences

The riot caused enough controvery that the Okuninushi Corporation felt forced to do something. However, instead of imrpoving working conditions like the miners wanted, Okuninushi Corp simply closed down the mine, putting thousdands out of work. Additionally, they discovered the insider and, allegedly but almost certainly, had him killed.
