Hannya

A race of hulking warriors dressed in simple garments, carrying small masks.

Appearance

Most commenly seen with red skin, dark hair and fearsome horns. Their teeth are long enough to show through their lips causing some to have difficulty speaking clearly. They are tall and muscular, making them natural warriors. Some are born with a third eye in the middle of their foreheads.

Hannyan fashion is practical and durable. Most pieces are short sleeved and tight to show off muscles and scars. Jewelery comes in the form of metal bands around the biceps, piercings, horn covers and engraved tusks. Swirling, tribal tattoos are wide spread as well.

Culture

The Hannya are proud of their fighting prowess but not inherently violent. They have a strong sense of justice and care especially strongly for children, going so far as to steal them from homes they deem neglectful or abusive. (This has lead to many misunderstandings and myths of Hannya stealing children to eat them.) Revenge is very much socially accepted and sometimes even required. However, if a Hannya is caught hurting a child, their horns and tusks are broken off and they are exiled.

The Hannya are a competetive bunch, openly displaying scars, muscles and trophies. It is tradition to get tattoos of your greatest deeds. Friendly spars are common and it is customary to trade small masks of ones likeness with friends and training partners. These masks are collected and the most impressive are often displayed in the home.

On their homeplanet Hannya take up all manner of roles in society. Out in the galaxy however, they are mostly guns for hire. Heavy hitters and bruisers on mercenary crews as well as bouncers at clubs and bodyguards for politicians and celebrities. You can find them in any job where being big and scary is an advantage.

Vengeful: As a bonus action, you can announce how someone has wronged you recently. Gain advantage on your next attack against that person. The next time you use this ability you need to come up with a new reason for vengeance.

Sharp Teeth: Proficiency in Intimidation, but your lisp imposes disadvantage on Intimidation when speaking Galactic Basic. Your bite deals 1d6 damage.

Gift of the Mask: If you offer a person a mask and they accept it, you may make all persuasion checks pertaining to that person with advantage.
