Earendel Station
Earendel Station is an observation station on the outer edges of the known universe. It is the farthest populated object from the Central Warp Hub.
Construction
A relatively new space station, Earendel was designed by Dr. Haruka. It's construction was one of the very few things that the Third Shogu, Yamamoto Kichirou, accomplished in his short reign. He ordered the creation of the station as a favor to his old friend Dr. Haruka. The project was continued by his aunt and successor, Yamamoto Moriko and was completed after Dr. Haruka's death.
Because of how far away from any other inhabited planet or station Earendel is, the process of building it was very dangerous. If anything happened it would take multiple hours for a distress call to reach the nearest people. Because of this, the Station was built by "expendable" people. Namely prisoners and debt-slaves.
Purpose
Dr. Haruka's visions caused them to fear invasions from outside the known universe. This drove them to design observatories and watchtowers and they campaigned for their construction along the edge of the galaxy. Earendel is the only such station that was built.
The Station possesses cutting-edge scanners, long-range communication and alarm systems as well as an arsenal of weaponry capable of taking down, or at least incapacitating, an invading army.
Inhabitants
While initially designed to be manned by an extensive crew of soldiers, comms-officers and scientists, it is now run by a skeleton crew and large parts of the station are abandoned. Only a couple of maintanace staff, some comms officers and a few soldiers remain on board.
