Dragon religion

Gameplay:
All religious classes (clerics, paladins, and druids) are open to players how want to play as followers of dragon religion. Cleric class characters can play as the priest or priestess of their home village’s temple. Paladin class characters can be fighters who have sworn to fight in the name of a particular dragon god. Both of these classes will invoke the power of their dragon ancestor and the dragon gods to use divine magic. Druids can hold dragon religion beliefs alongside their druidism, but it will not play a part in their use of divine magic.
I pray to my ancestors, my fathers, and their mothers. Please protect and guide us.

Followers:

Known as: Dragon Worshippers   Insulted as: Snakeheads   Although dragonborn can be of any faith, and individuals, of all races can practice dragon religion, dragon religion is primarily the religion of dragonborn.

Beliefs:

Dragon religion has no proper name as it is not a highly organized faith and has no formal doctrine. “Dragon religion” is the name given to the collection of beliefs and practices held by most dragonborn.

The Ancestors:

Itinerate people, without their own homeland, family is the one institution that most dragonborn can claim as their own. Consequently, dragon religion consists mostly of a type of ancestor worship. Dragonborn pray to the spirits of their forefathers and foremothers at domestic altars. These spirits are tasked with the protection and welfare of the family. These ancestors can include one’s own dragonborn grandparents, the full blooded dragon progenitor of the family, or a few dragon gods who are said to be the forefathers and foremothers of all dragons.

Places of worship:

Dragonborn will often have small altars in their homes with images of their ancestors. Dragonborn villages or settlements will often have a village temple dedicated to one of the dragon gods or to full blooded dragon progenitors. These temples usually borrow heavily, in style and form, from the surrounding faiths. Dragon religion has few grand places of worship and no institutions larger than local temples.

Manner of worship:

At domestic altars and village temples, offerings are made to one’s dragon ancestors and individual prayers are made for their intersession. Large scale ceremonies or gatherings are rare, but impromptu gatherings during times of crisis where the local priest gives an invocation do happen.

Dragon Pantheon:

Dragon religion has a number of dragon gods that its followers claim descent from. Many of these dragon gods are shared by other faiths.
