Divine Theater
Overview
What is the world but a giant performance with an everchanging cast? In the grand scale of things even the gods are temporary. With the immense wealth of power they command, they often serve as viewers, stage hands and directors of the great play. Moving people around, giving and taking away, planning and plotting.A god is everywhere and nowhere at once, their essence suffusing the world and the different planes in varying strengths. When they have to focus their attention to talk amongst each other, when they bring mortals up to talk to them without a vision or an avatar, than the Divine Theater comes into being.
Few Mortals have seen it, only a select few are able to comprehend what is actually going on and manage to provide a detailed description of what they saw.
Appearance
As a metaphorical construct its appearance changes for everyone moving through it. A few things seem to be most prevalent in all surviving recollections. It seems that the form of the Divine Theater depends heavily on the entity one is speaking to. A featureless white void is common, being changed and adapted to suit the divine taste. Elves that spoke directly to Cerunna of the Woods describe the void slowly filling with the outline of trees and forests, while the ancient leaders of the dwarven clans report the void taking on the faint appearance of a well equipped smithy.Other descriptions seem to add to that preconception. Always a featureless white void, with the outlines of the god's domain forming at least some structure.
Confirmed Visits and Reports
The following section lists an incomplete account of mortals entering the Divine Theater while also retaining enough of their sanity and willingness to report and describe. Some reports are gathered from the oldest legends and tales among our people and are marked with "-T" the reliability of those tales is unfortunately not a given as they may have been warped by millenia of storytelling and embellishment from the bards and drunken scoundrels of the world. The description shall be ordered by the god met, with uncategorizable events at the end. Each report will begin with the name of the mortal and a short description of the events by their own accounts. After that the divine theater will be described to the best of the mortals memory.Cassandra - The Deceiver
His Royal Majesty King Theoderich III
Content of the Conversation
Our ruler himself was invited into the Divine Theater by the ancestral god to which we all owe our existence. During hours of enlightening conversation She tasked our ruler with not only keeping his kingdom safe and prosperous, She also commanded him to expand our reach beyond the anything that was ever known to us. This eventually led to the formation of the royal expedition fleet and the eventual discovery of the second continent to the west.Appearance of the Divine Theater
According to the exceptionally clear memory of his royal Majesty King Theoderich III the Divine Theater appeared as a grand palace stretching beyond anything he could see. After wandering through many halls and ballrooms, he came to Cassandra, sitting upon a giant throne inviting him to to talk with her for hours on end.Does anybody belive really believe this? The things we do for King and state...
Platoon Leader Martim
The platoon leader has served faithfully in our military for many decades and has been a force for good during his time, improving morale by a considerable amount in any platoon he was assigned to.Content of the Conversation
During his youth the platoon leader had hunted game with a friend in the woods surrounding his village. After being gored by a boar him and a friend had only enough resources to treat one of them, unsure of the others survival. Cassandra urged Martim to treat his own wound first as he was the one that had the better chance of survival which would enable him to look for help, if he treated his friend he would ease his suffering at the cost of his own survival.Appearance of the Divine Theater
Martim tells that he awoke from uneasy slumber and found himself in the copy of a simple tent. Expertly crafted and heavily used, large enough for an entire family but empty - aside from Cassandra herself. According to Martim she presented herself as a human woman in her mid-thirties wearing a simple dress, he later recognized the design zo made for messengers on horseback - optimized for riding and protection.Officially this version is doubted as it deviates too much from the experience King Theoderich III had.
Cayden Cailean - The Drunken God
A friend he adventured with before his Ascension
Content of the Conversation
Shortly after the the actual Ascension the Friend found himself in the Divine Theater, talking to a very confused Cayden, claiming he had the worst hangover of his life, not even knowing where he was. They reminisced about the time they spent together and he calmed Cayden down once he realized the gravity of the situation.Appearance of the Divine Theater
According to the reports, the Divine Theater was not fully formed and smelt faintly like a tavern.Master Artisan Hellig
Died asome decades ago, Hellig was knwon for crafting excellent furniture, very popular with noble houses. She also ran several smaller shops producing furniture at low costs for taverns and was known for employing urchins and beggars.Content of the Conversation
Claiming that she visited the Divine Theater in her youth as a street urchin, Cayden urging her to continue on her way, claiming that he "could pull some strings" to help one that needs it. In return she had to promise him that she would never forget where she came from. Shortly after a barkeeper took her in and helped her into an apprenticeship with a cousin of his.Appearance of the Divine Theater
Hellig claimed to remember little about the location itself, but always maintained an impression of a noisy background with many other people drinking and laughing.Cayden might be an enemy of the Empire, but I bet he throws the best parties in there.
Cerunna of the Woods
A hunter of unknown origins
Content of the Conversation
According to multiple third hand accounts, the Lady of the Woods appeared to this man, claiming that he had angered her and violated a law she had put into place. As a punishment he should be transformed into a wild animal, only regaining his proper form if he managed to survive seven years. The hunter was apologetic but did not manage to sway her.
Appearance of the Divine Theater
Very little has been transcribed, what is available describes a vast landscape of nothing but hills, nothing else as far as the eye reaches.I somehow really do not trust this account, it is too spotty and seems unrealistic
An Elven Priest
Content of the Conversation
Recorded shortly after the the Time of Darkness ended, this account describes a set of instructions given by Cerunna to the then young man. She apparently instructed him in the protection of her forests and set the baselines for all future worship.Appearance of the Divine Theater
Little has been recorded, the reports speak of Cerunna herself, who appeared to be stressed and aggressive towards the people. The priest reported that he kept feeling a strong wind against his back.Dorok - The Divine Hammer
