On your new profession

Since the first days of settlement on the continent, we have always had those that proudly stood for the ideals and interests of the Kingdoms on the mainland, ensuring that our will is carried out and that a steady hand guides the development of this untamed wilderness.
In the beginning their role was nothing but ceremonial as all were working in harmony with a shared goal in mind. As time went by, seditious elements began creeping in and demanding that the ties that bind us together were broken.
To remind them of all the things we share, all the things we do for each other, it was decided to turn the symbolic position into one with real power and might behind it. These powers were greatly increased after the seditious war until we have reached the point you are at now.

Your Responsibilities

1. While working this position it is your most important duty to continuously push for the interests of the mainland at home.
2. Whatever it is that your superiors command, always follow it down to the last letter of your orders.
3. Keep the local powers in check, be it a mayor, a commander or the priests of the new gods. All of them need the voice of reason in their ears. Use the soldiers under your command if you have to, but do not provoke another war.
4. If you discover signs sedition it is your duty to follow them and rip them out at the root. You have full authority to remove anyone from their position should they attempt to hinder you in your duty.
5. Any major decision in your city has to be approved by you. Take this seriously or you will be removed from your post and replaced by someone that will.

The Dangers You May Face

Over the years a few main dangers for the colonial officers have crystallized. The most straightforward are the direct attempts at your life by seditious elements, be wary of attackers in the dark of night, poison slipped into food and drink and anyone you have not personally selected to be part of your office.
Secondly, there have been countless attempts to bribe, sway, seduce and gennerally influence the officers. They will not hesitate to deceive, lie and misrepresent the truth if they think that it would be helpful in turning you away from the righteous course.
The last group is the most dangerous. It involves all magical attacks on you. They will try to enchant you, control you, even replace you if they have the chance. Take great care to avoid these dangers, consult your arcanist for protection and you will be safe.
