Demesne Effects
The Weave flows through everything, from the largest giant to the smallest grain of sand. It is the source of magic and miracles. Its permeation affects the land in many ways. In places where people gather or stay routinely, if their thoughts, hopes, and wishes are resonate with each other over long periods of time, the flow of the weave might find new patterns, which in turn can cause permanent magical effects to remain in the area. Such effects are usually referred to as "demesne effects".
For example, an ill person might be healed by staying in an old temple, an ancient druid grove might be in bloom throughout the seasons, or a dreadful marsh of terrible history where the trees come alive with sinister purpose.
Dispelling demesne effects
Demesne effects are created by strong magic, but can be dispelled. The power of the magic depends on the amount of mental resonance and length of use that has caused and strengthened the demesne effect, and as such the power needed to untangle the weave differs greatly from demesne to demesne. Weaker demesne effects can be removed through the Dispel Magic spell, usually cast at a high level. Some demesne effects are so powerful that the physical objects that tethers the magic must be removed or destroyed. In some cases, nothing short of a Wish spell will remove the demesne effect, and even then there are cases where it won't be completely removed.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
